You are the salt of the earth...You are the light of the world.

The savings and loan business in the U.S. has been in serious trouble in recent years.Many offices have closed,and some are still struglling to survive.A number os factors have contributed to this crisis:a slowdowm in the economy,poor management,excessive salaries,and bad investments.To those who lost their savings,the S&L crisis is real indeed.
There is another S&L crisis that affects society.Jesus' followeers are to be salt and light in a spritually decaying world that is engulfed in darkness.When compromise with the world,selfishness, and deceit dominate our lives,we lose our preserving influence,and evil spreds all the more.When our words and deeds are based on truth,love and righteousness,we can hold in check some of the moral degeneration that is so prevalent today.And by living a holy life and telling others of Jesus' love and forgiveness,we bring light into the darkness.
As belivers,we must each do our part by living for Christ where weare,whether in a plce that reaches millions or touches only a few.God has put us where we are to be salt and light.
Let's make sure that we don't contribute to an S&L crisis.
Only one life,so live it well,
And keep your candle trimmed and bright;
